Calculus Quiz 2...happy...^^

Today I got my calculus quiz 2 result....as I had expected....full marks....^^ but actually the question is really really easy....

When I last time got the question, not more than 10 minutes I had finished answering the question, but in my mind, would it possible Mdm Zarina gave so simple question for us? I kept thinking about it and I checked the answer again and again. But still, it only last for about 3 minutes...then I said to myself,"Be confident to your answer, just hand up...."

And as a result, I got full marks....hahaha...happy...^^ hope my quiz 3 also can get full marks as I was so lucky that I got the question that was easier compared to the others....

Shame on me.....0(+_+"")0

Today, as usual, we were having our calculus class at BM. Before the class start, while waiting for the rest of the students come in, Mdm Zarina suddenly said when she was marking the Calculus Test 2 paper, one of the student wrote zero over one equals to one(the answer is zero...primary school students also know it....)

At that instant, in my mind straight away think who is that person? Sure is not me. Then, unexpectedly, Mdm Zarina turn to me and said,"Chua, is it you are the person? I think you are the one, because when I saw somebody make that mistake, I took the trouble, turn to the front page to see who is it."(Mdm knows my name because I'm really popular in the class.....seriously.....popular....=_="")

At that moment, all the people in the class focus at me....so embarrassing...my face really ran red....I really didn't expect is me. I really forgot what I wrote in the test because I've a tendency to forget all of my solution and the question after the test or exam. But now I remembered, I really wrote equals to one.....(T__T)

Nevermind, I cannot change it already, but Mdm Zarina, I SWEAR I'll never do that mistake again....never ever again.....=_=""

Physics Test 2.....=_=""

Yesterday taking my physics test 2, one word, 'die'....the day before the test, suddenly I had flu. It happened unpredictable. Then, sure enough, I had not enough time to study as I really feeling not well. At about 8pm I went to sleep already, and in my mind, I think, this time I sure cannot score in my physics test 2(before this I swear want to score, but due to this circumstances.....fall sick.....really not in my plan....haiz~~~).

As I thought, really cannot concentrade in my study, I just read the notes that my lecturer gave and revice a bit the tutorial question, but I just read, it didn't go into my head....really really sick....beside me full of tissue and notes paper, it was messy(sure enough....and don't forget....full of bacteria....) and the worst part, I had fever!!! (According to my knowledge of biology, when a person get sick, his/her body temperature will went up because of the white blood cells are fighting againt the bacteria....ceh...bio...hahaha....my favourite subject....^^) Then, as I said, 8pm something I straight away went to sleep without second thought, because I know I need more rest as the following day is my test. After that, through YM, I ask Udin to do me a favor, miss call me as he wake up for sahur. And once again, THANKS UDIN!!! He really woke me up at 5.30am, then start to study a bit but my bad, I fall asleep again...=_="" But at 8am, after waking up Udin(he sleep back again after his prayer.....3 miss call and 1 message....really difficult to wake him up....kakakaka....^^ Udin, when you read this don't angry with me ya....) I continue my study but I know all things I read didn't help me at all in the test.....

When I first turn the test paper, flip through the questions, actually the questions are not tough and are quite similar with the examples in the textbook and the tutorial question, I got read it, but as I said, didn't get into my head....the worst part--not enough time....as a result, I had a lot of blank space in my answer booklet.....

The test over, I can't change anything if I get a very worst result, but the sure thing is I've to struggle in my final exam, I have to get a better result in my final exam.....sob2....

ICE Student Chapter launching.....

19th September 2008, a historical day for all students that taking Civil Engineering in UNITEN, as the first ICE Student Chapter is launched in UNITEN and also in Malaysia. Dr Ooi(the Malaysia ICE representitive...) is being invited as the VIP to lauch the ICE Student Chapter. After months and months of preparations, at last, the dream of having a ICE Student Chapter in UNITEN had come true.

That day, I was one of the usher and my friend, Linda, also accompany me as the usher. What is usher? Actually it seems like a very easy job but not at all. This was the first time to be a usher and from the beginning I really don't know I can do it or not as this is not my job(the 2 first year degree students that responsible in this, were having their exam that day....so it was take over by Linda and me....) But after the first attempt, it seems turn out very well.

The launching, very different from others club's launching, as we had Plaster of Paris, just like Hollywood actors/actresses put their handprint on the cement....this was the supprise that we gave to all the Civil Engineering's lecturer and the VIP, Dr Ooi. Actually when mixing the cement, the situation was a bit messy. As Linda took the case that contain the ready-mix cement on stage, our hand was white in colour....(cement.....) We quickly ran down the stage and wiped our hand as we were the usher, we had to serve the VIP after that. It is impossible to serve them with full hand of cement....(weird right???) Luckily the ceremony turned out very well, and Dr Ooi was a very funny person, he took the camera and took the photo of his handprint....^^ He said he wanted to save it as a memory....hahaha.....

After the one hour ceremony, the launching is successful. All of us really really happy...^^ and I also get know about the lecturer that are teaching the Civil Engineering course....as one of the lecturer really shocked when we said we are from foundation....hahaha...^^

My First Presentation.....

First presentation, is it scary or just a relaxing job? For me it is just like a relaxing task because I know the whole class student very well, so it is not scary at all. Our title for the presentation is "Festival in Malaysia", until now still have to say thank you to Hana, because she had done a great job, the presentation is really attractive and really, not boring at all compared to the others.

Our group volunteer as the first group to present(because at that time very few students in the class....can decrease our tension presenting in front of nearly 60 students...^^) We make a correct choice, but Shu Hui still very very nervous as she kept speaking the words wrongly, but it's ok.

But something wrong, we also don't know why it become like that. When we started to present, all the text box run and the font also not the same as Hana done it before. We said to the lecturer that we wanted to edit the text but she said nevermind, just continue with the presentation. Hana was so sad, because she put in a lot of affort in this presentation to make sure we got very high marks, but luckily the lecturer didn't say anything about the text, she said the presentation is quite ok.

Oh, one more thing, Udin, sorry for bothering you to bring along your laptop. I know it is very heavy, but don't forget my laptop is heavier than yours....^^ But anyway, thanks a lot...although we didn't use it to edit our presentation...

Out of my expectation, I'm on duty on Monday 11am-12noon same as Tuesday at BA. But Monday I'm the only one who take care of the booth, a bit worry I cannot handle it. This is the first activity that I involved in Uniten, and first time be the AJK of ICE, everything starts from zero. I hope I can do it well and make the job done without any problem.

So, next Monday and Tuesday, saying good luck to myself......^^

The first ICE AGM......fun.....^^

ICE....many of my friends asked me what is that when I mention it to them. It is actually Institution of Civil Engineering, a body from UK that exists to promote and progress civil engineering. ICE will be launched next Friday first in Malaysia, yes, first in Malaysia, and is in Uniten, how proud are we? Hahaha...really proud of that.

Before the ICE AGM began, we were being divided in 3 groups and Chuen Hang, the president of ICE Student Chapter, actually lead us(I'm in group 1.....). After that we had our Ice-breaking session. It was really really funny especially the second game: everyone of us have to contribute one sentence to complete the story line and we cannot say "I" but "me" is OK.

Then the story began, starting with Chuen Hang, he said, "One day, a ball flew by me." After that the second person continue, "It was kicked by a footballer at the field." Then Patrick continue, "The ball traveled with a very fast speed." Until here the story seems to be very OK right? But the story began to be more and more interesting because of my classmate, Jackson. I really don't know where he got the idea, he just continue the story with his sentence, "Then, the ball hit heqing." YES!!! IS ME!!! At that moment, I really speechless, I just stared at Jackson and kept laughing. Why is it me? But no choice, the story have to continue, so I just continue with, "Heqing screamed." You know how weird is it to be the main character in the story when you also involved in the story telling? Really weird.

The story continues but after that really going haywire when my brother continues with his sentence, “Suddenly, a Super dog came. What? Super dog? Emm…..quite creative.....Then someone continue with, "The Super dog licked Alex(another innocent senior that involved in the story like me......hahaha....)" After that, I think is Patrick continue, "Then Alex licked Heqing." WTH......really speechless......=_="" Jackson then continue, "It was so disgusting until Heqing wake up(because before this "I" was fainted.......) Is my turn....what should I continue? I was laughing and laughing until I got stomachache already......ok.....nevermind.....I just continue, "She slapped Alex." Really weird.....after that security guard came in, then what fall in love first sight with "Heqing" really complicated, but we had to stop our game because we were lacking of time.

I am wondering if the story keep going on, what is the end of the story? Hahahaha......really cannot imagine how is "heqing" in the end of story......^^although quite shamed being the heroine in the story but it was really fun......^^

Finally......whew.....tired.....=_=""

Finally, yes, finally finish my interview today. I don't know whether I done it good or not but I think I really got a good experience. I just chatting with the interviewer and is not like interview at all. Besides that, before this I asked my senior have to write an essay right, then his answer is "yes", but when I finished my interview(very fast.....just 15 minutes.....then I came out already.....), nobody told me what should I do next, then I think is Miss Jia Yee came out and said, "Ok, you can go back now actually......" Har? Is that true? Really? No essay at all? Maybe YTL is changing its interview style. Then with my bro, taking LRT and Rapid KL then come back to Uniten.

So fast, faster than my imagination. If I didn't get the scholarship I'll not disappointted because I gain experience that will make me do better in the next interview. If I get it, I really apprieciate it, and will do my best maintaining my pointer above 3.0(really have to double and triple my effort.........).

1 month from now, waiting for the results, now what can do is just wait patiently.....wish me good luck.....hahaha^^

YTL interview........

27th August, it was really a hapless day. When I was on the way to BA, a damn shit bird egest on me, but only on my t-shirt. Then I told Hana that, "Today will be a lucky day....." I really don't know is it lucky or.....after that when we walked until COE foodcourt.....damn shit again.....(sorry for using rude word....but it's really.....arghhhh......), looked at Hana innocently, and I said, "I forgot to bring my ID....."

Although Ilmu, my apartment, is not far from COE foodcourt, but to and fro, really make me very very tired, and I was like didn't take bath that morning, because the hot day make me sweating unstop. As I thought, I late for my physics class, for the first time, but luckily Mdm Roslina haven't start the lecture yet.....(whew......).

Ok, back to the title. What is the link between my unlucky day and YTL interview? As I said to Hana, "Today will be a lucky day...." At first, I'm not sure is it true, but when I go back to my apartment after my class, take a nap first, then online. When I go to check my mail, wow, give me a big shock, YTL calling me for the scholarship interview. It's really a big, great shock, because I applied for so long time already but didn't have any news about it, I thought I failed, but actually I got it!!! I got the chance for the scholarship!!!

Tomorrow will be my interview section, 12 noon at Menara ING. I really worry because I haven't do the preparation yet, but I'll done it today no matter how, no matter what.....so wish me good luck for the interview because I really need the scholarship.....If you really wish me, I appreciate it.....^^ Thanks......

CMPF Quiz 2.........

I'm back....actually the CMPF quiz is not so hard as I thought, because before this my friend told me that the quiz very difficult since their teacher gave them structure question(emmm.....not so sure about it.....), and I also heard that our teacher want to give us structure question too.....that's really make me worry.....

But just now when I saw the question, whew.......it's just the same with the first quiz that we had before.....actually the question was not difficult....it was just straight forward question(multiple choice question, True and False question and fill in the blanks.....) Although I read the notes before I went to the class, but nothing in my mind.......=_=" I was like staring at the question very long time and I decided to do it without further thinking....just used my intuition.....hahahaha.....I don't know it is working or not.....so hoping I get a not-so-bad results....because first quiz I got a quite high marks.....and hoping the presentation next week also turns out well........^^

Unexpected....^^

Now just 11.05am...but I'm at my apartment now....because my calculus class cancelled already....this is the first time I come back so early...everybody still having class now but I'm editing my blog here....hahaha......but then...after this I have a lot of things to do.....reading computing skill's notes(because after this 5pm having the quiz at COIT.....), eating lunch(definitely.....^^), sleep(of course......hehehe.....), giving out flayers of ICE AGM(since I am the foundation representitive.....ceh....hahaha)and preparing my YTL interview......many things waiting for me to do it.....
so, see you after this......^^

Methods to Improve Memory.......^^

Again, posting an article that my teacher gave me during my secondary school time. I don't know where she took it but believe me, it is really useful......because before this I thought it is just a waste of paper, but then, reading back the article, really useful for us......as a student......

A student was once heard grumbling to his friends,"Much of what we learn we forget. The more we learn, the more we forget, the less we know. So why bother to learn?"
When some students fail or do badly in their examinations, they give the excuses,"I just cannot remember." "I am not the memorising type!" "What I learnt just did not come out in the examinations!"
In our daily lives, memory is essential. We need to recognize places and people, to remember dates and time of appointments, to recall names, to remember roads and routes, to identify things and do so many other tasks. It certainly is an asset and advantage to have a good or strong memory. Imagine the doctor who cannot remember most of his patients, who has difficulty recognizing symptoms and remembering the names and effects of drugs. He will soon lose his patients. Likewise, the lawyer, teacher, engineer, in fact, a person in any profession, needs to remember a certain amount of knowledge and information.
Students cannot escape from having to memorize a certain amount of data or information in any subject. No doubt, examinations now tend to emphasize more and more on questions that are not merely based on simple recall or memory work. They demand thinking, understanding, analysis and synthesis. However, a certain degree of memory work cannot be avoided. In Mathematics, the students still need to remember certain formulae and methods to go about solving the problems. In language, remembering the meanings of vocabularly is important. Even in Computer Science, one still has to remember how to go about using a particular programme.

Tips to Improve Memory

@ Develop an Interest
Many students can easily remember the names of fooballers, singers, actors and actresses. Some can even
remember detailed information of the World Cup or the lyrics of many popular songs. Why? The answer is simple:
they have a keen interest in the subject. In the effective learning of a subject, an interest has to be
developed. Try to see the importance and significance of the subject to the world and relate it to your
everyday life.

@ Cultivate the Right Attitude
You must have the desire or the intent to remember. Learn to like or love every subject and be positive when
learning it. If you dislike or hate any subject then it is rather difficult to learn it and remember the
subject matter. Why do you detest any subject? If it's because you find it difficult, then try getting a good
tutor or good revision and reference books.

@ Appreciate the Background of the Subject
Knowledge and understanding of a particular subject matter can serve to motivate and inspire you in learning.
For example, knowing the background of an author and how the novel was written can inspire your learning.
Knowing about the life history of Michael Faraday can make a difference when you study his discouveries in
Physics and Chemistry.

@ Pay Good Attention
An alert and attentive mind can make a world of difference when it comes to your ability to remember. In class,
be very attentive to what is taught; sharpen your mind. Many students these days don't have very good listening
skills. As a result, very often a lot of subject matter is not registered in their minds when a particular
subject is taught in class.

@ Understand the Subject Matter
It is very difficult to memorize a chunk of information that makes no sense to you. Clear understanding of the
subject matter is very important before it can be learnt and retained in the mind. Ask questions and analyze
the subject matter; examine its significance. Of course, if you have difficulty understanding any part of a
subject, do not be shy to ask your teachers, seniors or your friends who know.

@ Review Immediately
After a lesson or lecture is given by your teacher, you should make it a habit to go over and review it as soon
as you can. When ideas, facts and concepts of a lesson are still fresh in your mind, review and retention are
more effective. Do not put off revision to the last moment, just before a test or examination. The subject
matter would have become more vague and hazy and time is wasted trying to make sense of it before learning it.

@ Organize into Categories
Trying to remember bits and pieces of a subject is difficult. Learn to group or categorize things which share
some similarities. For example, in Chemistry, coloured cations are grouped together; emphoteric oxides are
considered as a class and gases which have an odour are listed together. Likewise, formulae, equations and \
dates can be organized into meaningful categories.

@ Drill and Practice
It is a fact that most of the things we remember come about because we are so familiar with them-having
experienced or used them many times-remembering names, telephone or vehicle numbers and the homes of our
friends. Thus reviewing lessons repetitively naturally improves memory. In Mathematics, solving lots of
problems constantly is important. Recitation or saying things aloud helps to create a better impression in your
mind.

@ Relate New Things to the Familiar
To remember new information takes quite an effort. But if you connect or relate the new information to what is
already known, then remembering becomes easier. For example, in learning about porpoises, dolphins and whales,
if you note that they are all mammals and you already know the characteristics of mammals, then things get
easier. To recall the properties of the chemical element Astatine, relate Astatine to Iodine, Bromine and
Chlorine, all members of the same Group in the Periodic Table.

@ Form Associations
Items of information or facts can be easier remembered if you associate or form links of them with people,
places or things. For example, the symptoms of a particular disease can be better remembered if we associate
them with a person whom we know is suffering from the disease. Likewise, the shapes like triangles, oval and
trapezium. The more unusual, funny and exaggerated the association, the easier it may be for you to remember
the information.

@ Write, Draw, and Colour
Writing ideas and points down on paper help to create an impression in your mind and thus will help you to
remember. In your review or revision, scribble your points on paper and draw graphs, tables, charts and even
cartoons! They will help you to recall. The use of colours also helps. Use vivid colours to underline, shade
or highlight your learning items. Colours help the mind to focus.

@ Make Summarize
A condensed form of the main points is a useful way to remember learning materials. After reading and
understanding a particular topic in a chapter of the book, attempt to jot down clearly the summarised points.
In your review, focus on these points; it would certainly help you to recall the learning material. At any
time, you can refer to cards of summaries to refresh your memory particularly when the examination is drawing
near.

@ Use and Focus on Key Words
Key words or phrases can help to 'hook' on to the surrounding material of a particular topic. For example, in
learning the preparation of a soluble salt like sodium chloride, the key words may be:acid, alkali,
neutralization, filtration, evaporation, cooling and crystallization. In writing out the answer in the
examination, the key words help you to link or string ideas and other facts together in a clear and logical
order.

@ Don't Overload Your Memory
Avoid trying to memorize too many things in one session. It is better to break up items to be learnt into
groups-to be 'programmed' into your memory bank at different sessions. Remember to allow time for your mind to
rest and become clear. A tired, dense and cloudy mind cannot function effectively.
